GREAT FALLS- Stephen Andrew Freeman has been charged with two felonies and a misdemeanor after allegedly assaulting a woman at Walmart.

Police were called to the Walmart store at 5320 10th Aven. S. just after 4 p.m. Sunday for a report that a person had been stabbed.

The victim told police that Freeman arrived at Walmart, placed her in a headlock, and then put a pocket knife to her neck. Police noted that the woman had knife wound to her wrist and hand.

According to court documents, Joseph Ziobro told police that Freeman also swung the pocket-knife toward his head.

Ziobro, who was in Walmart to buy milk and trash bags, took action:

“I grabbed his wrist from over his shoulder when he approached a Walmart employee with the knife. Took him down, and another couple people helped get the knife out of his hand. I just wanted some milk. .Crazy day,” Ziobro told MTN News.

After being taken into custody, Freeman “voluntarily admitted to driving to Walmart to hurt people using his pocket knife,” according to court documents.

Freeman has been charged with two felony counts of assault with a weapon, and one misdemeanor count of obstructing a peace officer.

Prosecutors requested that bond for Freeman be set at $15,000, noting that he does not appear to have a criminal record. They also requested that he be barred from entering Walmart property.
