JOLIET- A sinkhole closed the bridge connecting Main Street and Joliet Fromberg Road in Joliet Monday.

The hole is about 15 feet by 5 feet and is 4 feet deep, according to Carbon Alert, Carbon County’s emergency communications Facebook page.

The county will repair the hole as quickly as possible, but additional engineering and permitting will be required for a long-term fix, according to emergency officials.

The hole was caused by erosion under the bridge abutment, most likely from prolonged high water in Rock Creek.
