Montana Magazine shut down after nearly 50 years

Posted

MISSOULA – Another Montana publication will be ending its run this month.

Montana Magazine, which is owned by Lee Enterprises, will be halting publication on its bi-monthly magazine.

General Manager Matt Gibson sent out a letter to Montana Magazine subscribers citing a change in the dynamics of the publishing business as the reason for the closing the magazine.

Montana Magazine has been in rotation for nearly 50 years and focuses its attention on feature stories across the state.

All subscribers will be refunded for unfulfilled subscriptions delivered by check through the mail.

In the letter to subscribers, Gibson says subscribers should expect those checks in the near future.

MTN News has reached out to Gibson for comment and have not received a response.

Another Lee-owned publication, the Missoula Independent, was closed for good earlier this month after Lee bought the paper from Gibson just 18 months ago.

Lee also owns five newspapers in Montana, including The Billings Gazette.
