BOZEMAN — The national observance of homeless people lost every year is held on the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year.
Saturday afternoon, a crowd gathered outside of the Bozeman Public Library for a vigil.
Reverend Roxanne Klingensmith and Reverend Connie Campbell-Pearson of St. James Episcopal Church officiated the memorial, and there was a moment of silence to honor two individuals from the community that died homeless.
“We do this because we want to recognize those have have been less fortunate than us, and that we want them to be recognizing that these are individuals in our community,” said Edward Sypinski, coordinator for the Greater Gallatin Homeless Action Coalition.
The event was put on by the Greater Gallatin United Way, the Human Resources Development Council and the Bozeman Public Library.
