Stillwater County man dead after apparent fall from cliff in Molt area

Posted

MOLT — A Stillwater County man is dead after a fall from a cliff this week, according to the Stillwater County Undersheriff on Friday.

Undersheriff Chip Kem said his office received a call Thursday morning reporting a man had left his residence in the Molt area on foot and had not returned.

The person who made the report was not from the area but was visiting family.

Kem said a deputy responded to the area and Search and Rescue was alerted.

The area where the man went missing is 140 acres with "very rough terrain," according to Kem.

Search and Rescue found the man’s body around 12 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities believe the man died from a fall off a nearby cliff.

Hazardous conditions may have contributed to the man’s fall, according to Kem.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the incident but no foul play is suspected at this time.

The man’s name was not released. An autopsy has been scheduled.
