Miss Montana helps at Montana Rescue Mission store

BILLINGS – Service, scholarship, style and success are points on the Miss America crown.

The focus was on service this past weekend.

"Miss America Serves Day" brought Miss Montana to Billings to help at the Montana Rescue Mission Thrift Store in the Heights on Saturday.

Miss America along with the women who represented their states helped across the country.

The women and girls helping include Miss Teen Montana and future contestants.

"It’s not about the crown,” said Maddie Murray, Miss Montana 2017. “It’s not about me. It’s not about the dresses. It’s all about going and helping other people on any level. Service for me is a big part of that being that I am a Christian. It’s not just the recipient who gains something from service. It’s the donor as well."

Murray if from Corvallis.

For the last four years, she has gone to Nicaragua on a medical mission trip.
