Posted

BILLINGS – The Billings National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch to go in effect from Thursday morning through Friday afternoon.

Heavy snow is possible. Total accumulations of 8 to 12 inches with localized amounts up to 16 inches, are possible.

This does include the city of Billings and portions of south-central, central and Southeast Montana. It also includes portions of north-central Wyoming, including Sheridan.

This winter storm watch will begin on Thursday morning and go through Friday afternoon snow will begin from the west to the east Thursday and taper off from west to east on Friday.

People should plan on difficult travel conditions. Tree branches could fall and significant reductions in visibility are possible.

Winds could cause substantial blowing and drifting snow in the storm as well.

A winter storm watch means there is the potential for significant snow sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
