BILLINGS – Jilan and Demarco Johnson both love food. Most of the trips they take start with the question, "Where are we going to eat?"
That question led to another: Where is southern comfort food in Billings?
The Johnsons have answered with soon-to-be-officially-opened The Sassy Biscuit Co. in downtown Billings next to Brockel’s Chocolates.
It will offer a brunch spot to fill the void of sweet and savory tastes.
Chicken and waffles, griddlecakes, and flavors you wouldn’t normally find in Billings make up the new fare.
At this time, the spot is in a soft opening phase, opening for a few hours at a time, allowing people to come in and order to work out the kinks. The effort began this past Friday and so far, people have given high marks.
"I wasn’t sure how it would be received," said Jilan Hall-Johnson. "It was a little nerve-racking at first and to know we’ve received such good responses this far is really encouraging especially with some much time, energy and effort to bring something unique and special to Billings."
"They take that first bite and their face melts," said Demarco Johnson. "Flavors pop in your mouth and they go well together, they’re sweet and savory, they say like I never knew this combination could go together."
If you’d like to be part of the soft opening and give feedback to the owners, give them a call before you head down at (406) 200-7530.
