BOZEMAN – Authorities were dispatched to the area of Saddle Peak just south of the Bridger Bowl Ski area for an avalanche Saturday morning.
Witnesses reported seeing an avalanche on Skyline run off Saddle Peak that caught at least one person at around 11 a.m.
Search and Rescue volunteers at Bridger Bowl were supported by 25 rescuers, avalanche dogs, and a helicopter.
Identification of the victim will be released pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation is being conducted by the Sheriff/Coroner’s Office assisted by the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center.
