BILLINGS – St. Francis Catholic School’s fourth-graders took home $2,000 this week for April’s One School at a Time competition.
The students plan to use the money to take part in the Montana Audubon Society ANTS program to connect students with outdoor education.
"We’re super excited, because first of all, we’re excited our parents voted for us, which is awesome, we’ve got a great community, but also learning science is so much more fun when you’re out doing it. So it’s going to be a huge thing for our kids, we’re so excited," said Margie Larson, a St. Francis teacher.
The contest is sponsored by KTVQ and Cloud Peak Energy.
Orchard Elementary School of Billings took second place. The school will put $1,000 toward improving the school library with more books.
In third place was Billings Skyview High School , which will use $500 to take its Delta class on more field trips and get involved in community service projects.
