Q2 Weather: Cooler and wetter weekend

Posted

The path is leading toward cooler and wetter weekend weather.

A cold front moved through the area early Thursday, with showers and thunderstorms popping up Thursday evening.  For the most part, these will be general thunderstorms and less likely strong to severe storms with damaging winds and hail.

Friday will start out in the 40s and 50s and wind up mainly in the 60s and 70s. Expect a mix of clouds and sun early.

By Friday afternoon and evening, the chance of showers and thunderstorms increases.  Again, thunderstorms should not be that strong.

The bigger concern through the weekend will be rain totals.  This slow moving system has a lot of moisture to tap into, and one-to-two inch weekend rain totals are possible in some areas.

This rain cloud cause travel concerns, affect weekend events, and cause rises on waterways and some lowland flooding.

Billings forecast:

Thursday night…A shower or evening thunderstorm is possible.  Other mostly cloudy with a low of about 53.

Friday…Near 63 for the high. A mix of clouds and sun early with a better chance of showers later.
