Bank merger sparks change for customers

Posted

BOZEMAN – There have been some recent changes to First Security Bank.

First Security Bank and Big Sky Western Bank have merged together and are now owned by Glacier Bank.

First Security Bank customers now have the ability to access 14 different divisions in 7 different states.

But earlier in the week after the merge officially happened, some customers were upset due to difficulties with debit cards and online banking. According to the bank, this problem occurred because data was being transferred from one system to another.

Even though the ownership is different, First Security is still considered a local bank.

“We are a community bank,” President and CEO of First Security Bank Jim Ness said. “We have local management, we have a local board of directors that helps us with our decision making so there’s a lot of input at the local level, which I think is important for our community, that’s what the community wants. Our headquarters is based out of Kalispell and they provide a lot of the support, that there is a lot of the decision making comes from the local level here.”

Ness said his staff is readily available during business hours to help any customer who is still experiencing issues or needs any help.
