BILLINGS – A Thursday morning fire at a Billings South Side home caused $200,000 damage, and one person was taken to a local hospital for minor smoke inhalation, according to Billings firefighters.
The call was made at 11:54 a.m. for a fire at 425 Byrd St. that caused heavy damage to the back yard deck and smoke damage to the home, according to Deputy Fire Marshal Jaime Fender.
Batallion Chief Jason Lyon said the house was already 50 percent involved when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze quickly and completed mop up by 2:30 p.m., Lyon said.
The property is insured, and the cause remains under investigation.
