Baby killed in North Dakota tornado

WATFORD CITY, N.D. – A 7-day-old baby who was severely hurt when a tornado hit an RV park south of Watford City early this morning has died of his injuries.

The McKenzie County Sheriff’s Department reports the child, whose name has not been released, was transported to an undisclosed hospital containing advanced life support services, but died this afternoon.

The department notes the family of the child has asked that his name be withheld for now.

The storm injured 28 other people, nine of them critically, according to department officials.

The National Weather Service reports the storm was an EF-2 tornado with winds over 120 miles per hour when it struck near Watford City about 1 AM Tuesday.
