After a hot afternoon yesterday to kick off Montana Fair things ramped up another notch as we eclipsed the century mark and set a daily temperature record in the process.
The hundred plus degree day marks the first time that has happened in Billings since 2011.
The ridge that we have been talking about all week is in just the right spot for things to really heat up here and doesn’t look it will flatten out quite as early as expected. Especially for areas in Eastern Montana we can expect another very hot day tomorrow.
After that a front will pass over and drop temperatures substantially to more comfortable, seasonal marks to start the work week. High temperatures on Monday around the 80 degree mark, which I’m sure will be a huge relief after the record heat of this week.
Conditions appear to stay fairly benign over the course of next week but chances of some thunderstorm development in a fairly dry environment again raises fire concerns as things are seriously dry after the heat of this weekend continued to bake out vegetation across the state.
