BILLINGS – After a boulder fell and damaged a home on the Billings west end Wednesday, there seems to be some grey area regarding whether the city or county is responsible.

Smaller pieces of the boulder broke off and came into the homes living room Wednesday night around 9 p.m.

According to City Engineer Debi Meling, her department is not responsible for the follow up, because a county owned part sits a top the area of the Rims where the rocks fell.

Q2 reached out to multiple different county officials, who were unsure where we should direct our questions.

In previous cases where rocks from the Rims damaged homes, the homeowner and their insurance company have been responsible for any damages to their property.
