Doctors, scientists and engineers of the future came together Saturday for the kickoff of the regional MSUB Billings Clinic Science Fair.
It’s that time of year when students start preparing their science fair projects.
Those involved in science careers inspired kids with experiments and projects at the MSUB Glacier Room on Saturday.
For the last two years, MSUB has been the main organizer, replacing Billings Clinic.
Students from 1st through 12th grade can compete in the science fair.
The projects give children a chance to study something that interests them.
“Kids love to do anything hands on,” said Pat Lowthian, a teacher at McKinley Elementary School in Billings. “Anything they can touch, feel, watch explode or watch some kind of a reaction, they absolutely love that.”
“We need to make sure we inspire students to become future scientists, physicians, leaders, professors, science teachers and everything else,” said Dan Edelman, MSUB chancellor. “There’s so much opportunity for our kids out there right now. We want to make sure they get the right tools right now to do a great science project that they can lead into international program. So this is a great opportunity for us to work for our kids and our students.”
The 31st annual Science Expo is March 22nd and 23rd at MSUB’s Alterowitz Gym.
