BILLINGS- Firefighters are getting ready to head to Seattle for the annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb.

Uberbrew hosted “Pint Night”  on Saturday to raise money for the the trip.

Firefighters from Billings and Lockwood sold pint glasses, which included two beers.

The Stairclimb is on March 10, at the Columbia Building.

The climb involves 69 flights of stairs and 1,311 steps up 788 vertical feet.

The proceeds from the climb go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Firefighters say the climb takes marathon or triathlon type endurance.

“It’s kind of a competitive way that we can stay in shape and raise some money at the same time,” said Shawn O’Brien, a Billings firefighter. “Sixty-nine  flights with all of our gear and on air. The first half is ok. Two-thirds of the way up it is tough. It’s difficult. But it really doesn’t matter whether people are doing it really quick or taking their time.”

There is a cameraderie among the competitors.

“It’s 2,000 firefighters all hanging out and doing the same cause,” O’Brien said. “A pretty cool experience.”

The fundraiser at Uberbrew runs until 8 p.m. Saturday.

Another “Pint Night’ is scheduled for Saturday, March 2 from 2 pm to 8 p.m. at Canyon Creek Brewery.
