BILLINGS –  A long-time, beloved Billings pharmacy is saying goodbye after nearly 20 years.

A staple in the community, Hertha’s First Pharmacy inside Evergreen IGA at 1540 13th St. W. is closing its doors Tuesday night.

Hertha Voorhis, the original owner, opened the doors and pharmacy windows in Billings on July 1, 1999.

To earn the trust of people in this community over the years means a great deal to all of us,” Voorhis said. “I have a staff that- the best ever- they care like I do. People want to come in and have questions about healthcare have questions about prescriptions. They want to talk to somebody that knows them and can answer those questions honestly and give them some advice.”

The head tech at Hertha’s First Pharmacy, Martine Felt, said, “It’s been endearing to get to know everybody.  On a personal level, not a business level and that is something I will take with me forever.”

After the doors close, Voorhis plans to take some time for herself and reflect on the past 20 years. She says the hardest part for her will be not seeing her friends and customers every day.
