BILLINGS – Billings high school students got a chance to explore future career options at a career fair held at MetraPark Tuesday afternoon.

This is the first year of the Billings School District 2 high school career fair.

The fair gives students an opportunity to interact with about 100 local businesses.

Invitations to attend were sent to all schools in Yellowstone County.

“With the prediction that Yellowstone County will need to fill 50,000 jobs within the next ten years, it is imperative we alter and improve our system to better introduce, prepare, and assist students in taking a more active role in identifying their career interest area(s),” Superintendent Greg Upham said in a March 29 release.

Upham says events like the career fair allow students to begin their professional lives from a foundation of interest and education, rather than chance.
