Motorcyclist struck by car on Billings West End, taken to hospital

BILLINGS- A motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital after he was side-swiped by a vehicle changing lanes on Grand Avenue in Billings Friday afternoon.

Billings Police Lt. Brian Krivitz said the motorcyclist was traveling west on the 2700 block of Grand Avenue in the left lane when a silver vehicle in the right lane started to change lanes.

The driver of vehicle apparently didn’t see the motorcycle and struck him around 3:30 p.m., Krivitz said. The rider went over the median and set his bike down in the opposite lane. Fortunately, no cars were coming at him, and he was not struck, Krivitz said.

Police described his injuries as serious but not life-threatening. The motorcycle rider was not wearing a helmet. Police have not said if the other driver will face charges.

Traffic was backed up for about five to 10 minutes on Grand Avenue from 28th to 24th street west.
