BILLINGS- New details Friday night on an explosion at a truck wash bay in Lockwood that badly burned two men.

Officials are now saying they know what caused the blast.

Lockwood Fire Chief John Staley said Polar Services Centers’ video showed that a pump sparked the fire inside the tank wash.

A gas-powered pump for a pressure sprayer set off the gasoline vapors in the tanker, according to Staley.

The tanker was empty with just a little fuel that needed to be drained before cleaning.

He said one man ran out of the building with his clothes on fire.

The other was on top of the tanker with a safety harness.

The explosion and fire happened around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

The wash bay is separate from the main building.

The men, who are 41 and 23, were flown to the University of Utah Burn Center in Salt Lake City.
