BILLINGS – A passion for science and sports inspired an MSU Billings alumnus to make a six-figure donation for scholarships at his alma mater.

The MSUB Foundation made the announcement during the 27th annual Wine and Food Festival on Saturday night.

Carl Ueland donated $600,000 that will go to science students and student-athletes.

Ueland received a degree in Biology from Eastern Montana College in 1970.

He was also a track athlete.

He is president and part owner of Actargo, LLC in Fresno, Calif.

The money will go to student-athletes and science students for the next 10 years.

“It’s life-changing because for some of our students it’ll mean the difference of can they attend college or not,” said MSUB Chancellor Dan Edelman. “So this is going to help a lot of students come to college, going to fulfill their dreams and help them build their careers in the future. Carl Ueland, he’ll tell you often he wouldn’t be here today without the help of MSU Billings or at the time Eastern Montana College.”

The MSUB Foundation Wine and Food Festival is the school’s largest fundraiser for student scholarships.
