BOZEMAN — Travelers flying in and out of Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport have been able to enjoy the new parking garage.
The new parking garage at the airport is not only the only airport garage in the state, but at four stories high, and more than 400,000 square feet, it’s also the largest garage in Montana.
"Approximately 440,000 square feet, it took 18,500 cubic yards of concrete to build this parking structure. It has 1,100 parking spots of which about 1,000 are for the rental cars and about 100 are for premium paid parking." Airport Director Brian Sprenger said.
While supply is high for the rental car companies so is demand, so it won’t necessarily make it easier to find a rental car.
"Our business doubled in June, doubled in July, doubled in August, and we look for it to double in September," said Mike Lucero, City Manager of Hertz Rental Car.
The companies have been busy adjusting to the additional space.
"One it means a lot more work, we’re having to interact with each customer in the parking garage," Lucero said.
With the new spaces not only does this present benefits for the rental car companies but also for the people of southwest Montana.
"It certainly does add a benefit, as we mention, with not having to park in the snow and also the benefit of adding more employees and parking inside," Lucero said,
In total, the garage cost around $30 million.
