Big Horn County reports COVID-19 death

HARDIN - Health officials in Big Horn County announced Friday morning the death of a resident from COVID-19.

The case involved a man in his 60s and is the first death from the virus reported in Big Horn County and the 18th death statewide.

County health officials made the announcement on the Big Horn County responds to COVID-19 Facebook page.

The post states:

Big Horn County confirms the death of a man in his 60's from COVID-19.

This is the first death in the County attributed to COVID-19.

We at the Big Horn County COVID-19 Response Unified Coalition are deeply saddened and send our heartfelt condolences for the loss of this County resident. Please join us in sending your thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Big Horn County recently experienced an increase in cases and reported 27 active cases on Thursday.

Montana Gov. Steve Bullock issued a statement about the death in Big Horn County:

“We have lost another Montanan to COVID-19. All of Montana stands with the family and friends of this person as they grieve. I ask that Montanans remain cautious and continue to act with the health and safety of their neighbors in mind.”
