HELENA - Gov. Steve Bullock issued a new directive designating childcare as an essential business on Wednesday.

Certain requirements will be in place including limiting the number of children.

Groups of ten or less children will be kept together, striving to keep siblings and relatives in the same groups.

Children may not access any classroom space meant for a different group of children.

It is suggested to childcare providers that the total number of children in one facility should be no more than 24 kids.

In an effort to limit in-person encounters between childcare license applicants and DPHHS employees select rules will be suspended temporarily based on the unique circumstances of COVID-19.

Childcare providers and parents have been asked to review the appendix to “Information for Childcare – Frequently Asked Questions: COVID-19” for additional safety precautions that should be taken by childcare providers at this time and more information on childcare operation during the emergency.
