Family Services of Billings is changing the way they distribute food to people in need due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Last week we had one process, this week we have another, and this is much better for social distancing,” said Jane McCracken, the nonprofit's senior director of development and campaign.

The organization is now switching from a walk-in to a drive-thru donation distributing service at 3927 First Ave. S.

McCracken said that people will be able to drive up, show their relevant information, such as name, and address, then they can pull through the drive-thru section where they will receive their items for the week.

McCracken said Family Services saw about 105 cars Monday when the drive-thru service started, and they are expected to see more today and into the future.

Family Services has a lot of supplies and is prepared for an influx in families that need groceries in the coming days.

The drive-thru will be open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
