Montana state health officials reported one additional death and 306 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.
The state death toll now stands at 174. An additional death was in Yellowstone County, but it is not reflected in the report Monday from state health officials. Here's the full press release from RiverStone Health:
RiverStone Health, Yellowstone County’s public health department, reports that another Yellowstone County resident has died due to COVID-19 related illness.
On Sunday, September 27, a man in his 70s passed away in a Yellowstone County hospital.
To protect the privacy of the deceased and his family, RiverStone Health will not release further information.
This most recent death will be reflected on the Tuesday, September 29 state COVID-19 tracking map.
“I offer my sincere condolences to the deceased’s family and friends as they grieve the loss of their loved one,” said John Felton, Yellowstone County Health Officer, President and CEO of RiverStone Health.
“Each death of a Yellowstone County resident due to COVID-19 is a loss to us all, individually and collectively. We have now surpassed the total number of lives lost in August 2020. It is up to each and every one of us to do our part to spare more families the sorrow of losing a loved one to this disease,” said Felton.
To date, 3,244 Yellowstone County residents have been infected with COVID-19 and 65 have died.
The report from state health officials Monday notes an additional death in Big Horn County, bringing the total number of deaths there to 23.
Yellowstone County added the most new cases with 40. Glacier County reported 36 new cases, and Toole County added 31. Roosevelt County reported 29 new cases, and Flathead added 28.
The remaining new cases were spread across 29 Montana counties.

The total number of cases in Montana since the pandemic began has reached 12,413. There have been 8,839 recoveries and there are now 3,400 active cases.
Yellowstone County has the largest number of active cases with 943, followed by Flathead County with 406. Roosevelt County has 299 active cases, Cascade County has 261, and Missoula County has 254.

Thee are currently 158 people hospitalized for treatment of the virus. The total number of tests now stands at 337,196, an increase of 6,889 during the previous 24-hour reporting period.
