Montana state health officials on Wednesday reported a new single day record for new COVID-19 cases as the total number of cumulative cases statewide surged past 2,000, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.
New cases across the state were reported at 145, eclipsing the previous single day record of 125 set on July 9. The total cumulative statewide cases has reached 2,096.
Gallatin County had the most new cases reported Wednesday at 72. Yellowstone County reported 27 new cases. Eight new cases were reported in each Flathead County and Garfield County. Garfield County's cases spiked from one to nine with the new report.
Seven new cases were reported in Big Horn County, and Cascade County added six new cases. Missoula County reported five new cases, and two new cases were reported in Lewis and Clark, Ravalli and Richland counties.
Beaverhead Carbon, Lake, Madison, Rosebud, and Sweet Grass counties each added one new case.
No new deaths were reported and the total stands at 34. There are 37 people hospitalized with the virus, an increase of six during the previous 24-hour reporting period.

Active Cases by County
A total of 915 people have recovered and there are now 1,147 active cases statewide.
Yellowstone County now has 396 active cases, and Gallatin County has 242 active cases. Lake County has 69 active cases, Missoula County has 60, and Big Horn County reports 59 active cases.
The total number of tests has reached 123,758, an increase of 2,362 since the Tuesday report.
