Montana state health officials reported two additional deaths and 423 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.
The state death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 212. Yellowstone County reported one additional death due to COVID-19. Here's the full press release from RiverStone Health:
RiverStone Health, Yellowstone County’s public health department, reports another Yellowstone County resident has died due to COVID-19 related illness.
On Saturday, October 10, a man in his 70s passed away in a Yellowstone County hospital.
To protect the privacy of the deceased and his family, RiverStone Health will not release further information.
This most recent death is reflected on the Monday, October 12 state COVID-19 tracking map.
“I wish the family and friends of the deceased healing and peace as they grieve,” said John Felton, Yellowstone County Health Officer, President and CEO of RiverStone Health.
“Too many families have suffered the loss of loved ones due to COVID-19. It is up to each one of us to do our part to ensure that more families don’t suffer the anguish of lives lost too soon. I urge everyone in our community to honor the lives lost by wearing masks, watching your distance, washing your hands, avoiding crowds and staying home when you are ill,” said Felton.
To date, 4,389 Yellowstone County residents have been infected with COVID-19 and 74 have died.
The cumulative total number of cases in Montana has reached 19,125, and there have been 11,481 recoveries. There are currently 7,432 active cases of the virus in Montana, state health officials report.
Active Cases by County
Flathead County reported the most new cases of the virus on Monday with 94, followed by Yellowstone County with 81 new cases. Toole County added 54 new cases, and Missoula County reported 33 new cases.
The remaining new cases were spread across 33 Montana counties.

There are currently 291 people hospitalized for treatment of the virus, and the total hospitalizations since the pandemic began has reached 904.
There have been 400,458 tests performed, an increase of 10,200 during the previous 24-hour reporting period, according to state health officials.
