Montana state health officials reported three additional deaths and 275 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.
The number of new cases reported Tuesday is the second highest single day reported. The highest single day number of new cases was reached on Sept. 18 when 293 cases were reported.
The state death toll now stands at 163. Two additional deaths were reported in Yellowstone County. Here is the full press release from RiverStone Health:
RiverStone Health, Yellowstone County’s public health department, reports that two more Yellowstone County residents have died due to COVID-19 related illness.
On Monday, September 21, a man in his 70s who resided in a Yellowstone County senior living facility passed away in a Yellowstone County hospital.
Also on Monday, September 21, another man in his 70s who resided in another Yellowstone County senior living facility also passed away in a Yellowstone County hospital.
To protect the privacy of the deceased and their families, RiverStone Health will not release further information.
These most recent deaths are reflected on the Tuesday, September 22 state COVID-19 tracking map.
“I hope the families of the deceased find comfort in one another during this difficult time,” said John Felton, Yellowstone County Health Officer, President and CEO of RiverStone Health. “I am deeply sorry for their loss.”
“With each passing due to COVID-19, our community’s shared grief deepens. Sixty-one Yellowstone County residents, 15 of them this month, have now lost their lives to this tragic virus. Today, I ask that each of us spend an hour and a minute, a minute for each resident, to reflect and honor those who have been taken from us too soon,” said Felton.
To date, 2,882 Yellowstone County residents have been infected with COVID-19 and 61 have died.
The third death was reported in Rosebud County. There have now been 18 COVID-19 deaths in that county.
Cascade County reported the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 59. The county now has a cumulative total of 603 cases with 337 active cases. There have been five deaths reported in the county.
Flathead County reported 38 new cases, and Roosevelt County added 31. Gallatin County reported 26 new cases, and Big Horn County added 25. Yellowstone County reported 20 new cases.
The remaining new cases were reported across 23 Montana counties.

The total cumulative number of coronavirus cases in Montana has reached 10,700 and there have been 7,937 recoveries. There are now 2,600 active cases in the state.

There are currently 111 people hospitalized fro treatment of the virus in Montana. The total number of tests has reached 314,009, an increase of 2,747 during the previous 24-hour reporting period.
