Montana reports 3 additional deaths, 348 new COVID-19 cases (Wednesday, Sept. 30)

Montana state health officials reported three additional deaths and 348 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday , according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.

The number of new cases sets a new single day record high, passing the previous record of 344 set on Sept. 25.

The state death toll increased to 180 on Wednesday, and 170 people are currently hospitalized fro treatment of the virus.

One of the additional deaths was reported in Yellowstone County. Here's the full press release from RiverStone Health:

RiverStone Health, Yellowstone County’s public health department, reports another Yellowstone County resident has died due to COVID-19 related illness.

On Tuesday, September 29, a man in his 90s passed away in a Yellowstone County hospital.

To protect the privacy of the deceased and his family, RiverStone Health will not release further information.

This most recent death is reflected on the Wednesday, September 30 state COVID-19 tracking map.

“I can only imagine the heartache of losing a loved one to COVID-19 and I extend my sympathy to the family of the deceased,” said John Felton, Yellowstone County Health Officer, President and CEO of RiverStone Health.

“As the 22nd Yellowstone County resident has lost his life to COVID-19 this month, it remains up to each one of us to do all we can to protect each other. Wear your mask, watch your distance by staying 6 feet away from others, wash your hands and stay home when you are ill. If we all do these things consistently, we can prevent more illness and death due to COVID-19,” said Felton.

To date, 3,331 Yellowstone County residents have been infected with COVID-19 and 68 have died.

Big Horn County reported its 23rd COVID-19 death on Tuesday. Health officials in Glacier County alsoreported its second COVID-19 death on Wednesday.

One additional COVID-19 death was reported in each Flathead and Roosevelt counties by local health officials.

Yellowstone County reported the most new cases with 74. The county now has 3,331 total cases and 906 active cases.

Flathead County reported 64 new cases of the virus, and Glacier County added 46. Gallatin County reported 32 new cases, and Missoula County added 31.

The remaining new cases were spread across 27 Montana counties.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Montana has reached 13,071, and 9,256 people have recovered. There are now 3,635 active cases in the state, an increase of nearly 200 over the previous state report.

The total number of tests performed has reached 343,158, an increase of 3,232 during the previous 24-hour reporting period.
