Montana state health officials reported three additional deaths and 90 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.
Big Horn County reported two additional deaths on Wednesday morning.
Yellowstone County also reported an additional COVID-19 death on Wednesday. Here's the full press release.
RiverStone Health, Yellowstone County’s public health department, reports another Yellowstone County resident has died due to COVID-19 related illness.
On Tuesday, September 8, a man in his 80s who resided in a Yellowstone County senior living facility passed away at a hospital in Yellowstone County due to COVID-19 related illness.
His death is reflected on the Wednesday, September 9 state COVID-19 tracking map.
To protect the privacy of the deceased and his family, RiverStone Health will not release further information.
“I extend my wishes for peace and comfort to family and friends of the deceased as they grieve the loss of their loved one,” said John Felton, Yellowstone County Health Officer and President and CEO of RiverStone Health.
“Fifty Yellowstone County residents have lost their lives to COVID-19 since mid-April. Fifty families have experienced the heartache and sorrow of losing a loved one too soon. It is up to all of us to help ensure that more families do not have to bury their loved ones due to untimely passing from COVID-19. Please wear your mask, watch your distance, wash your hands and stay home if you are ill,” said Felton.
To date, 2,319 Yellowstone County residents have been infected with COVID-19 and 50 have died.
Meagher County also recently reported an additional COVID-19 death. The state death toll from the virus now stands at 122, according to state health officials.
Flathead County reported the highest number of new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday with 32. Flathead County now has a cumulative total of 723 cases with 183 active cases and nine deaths.
Fergus and Yellowstone counties each reported nine new cases, and Gallatin and Silver Bow counties each added six cases.
The remaining new cases were spread across 19 Montana counties.

The cumulative total of coronavirus cases in the state has reached 8,468, and there have been 6,318 recoveries. There are 2,028 active cases of the virus in the state, and currently 163 people are hospitalized for treatment.
The total number of tests has reached 271,150, an increase of 2,370 during the previous 24-hour reporting period.
