The death toll increased from 91 to 97. Five of the deaths occurred in Yellowstone County in July and August but were just recently added to the state data. RiverStone Health issued this press release Tuesday morning:
RiverStone Health, Yellowstone County’s public health department, reports five more Yellowstone County residents have died due to COVID-19 related illness.
On Wednesday, July 29, a man in his 90s passed away at a Yellowstone County senior living facility.
On Friday, July 31, a man in his 80s also passed away at a Yellowstone County senior living facility.
On Saturday, August 1, a woman in her 80s passed away at her home.
On Saturday, August 15, a male in his 60s passed away in a Yellowstone County hospital.
On Saturday, August 22, a woman in her 80s passed away at Canyon Creek Memory Care. She is the 17 resident to die of COVID-19 related illness from that facility’s outbreak.
All five deaths are reflected on the Tuesday, August 25 state COVID-19 tracking map. Four of the five deaths were identified through data reconciliation and a review of death certificates at the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services vital statistics unit.
To protect the privacy of the deceased and their families, RiverStone Health will not release further information about the deaths.
“The toll of COVID-19 continues to weigh heavily on our community. We hope that the sorrow and heartache of the deceased’s families and friends soon gives way to comfort and peace,” said John Felton, Yellowstone County Health Officer and RiverStone Health President and CEO.
To date, 1,816 Yellowstone County residents have been infected with COVID-19 and 41 have died.
On Monday, Stillwater County reported the county's second COVID-19 death.
