Montana reports 85 new COVID-19 cases, 3 new deaths (Monday, July 13)

Montana state health officials reported 85 new COVID-19 cases Monday, including 37 new cases and two deaths in Yellowstone County, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.

The state also reported three new deaths, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 32. Two of the deaths occurred in Yellowstone County, according to a press release from RiverStone Health.

The two deaths are connected to the outbreak at the Canyon Creek Memory Care in Billings.

On Sunday, July 12, a woman in her 90s passed away in a Yellowstone County hospital. Also on Sunday, a woman in her 90s passed away at Canyon Creek. To protect the privacy of the women and their families, RiverStone Health will not release further information about the deaths, the press release states.

A total of seven COVID-19 related deaths have been associated with Canyon Creek Memory Care.

To date, 525 Yellowstone County residents have been infected with COVID-19 and 11 have died.

Big Horn County also reported a new death Sunday. A woman in her 70s who was recently diagnosed with COVID-19 died after being hospitalized.

Lincoln County reported 19 new cases on Monday. This brings the county’s case count to 33 with 26 active cases.

The age demographics of the new cases are as follows:

  • 4 are under the age of 20
  • 6 are in their 20's
  • 5 in their 40's
  • 2 in their 50's
  • 1 in their 70's and 1 in their 80's.

Local health officials report that there are currently 12 are symptomatic and 7 are either asymptomatic, pre-symptomatic COVID-19 cases or unknown.

Eighteen of the new Lincoln County cases came from people who are part of the cluster in Libby, and one is from out-of-state travel. No hospitalizations are being reported and contact tracing is ongoing.

Flathead County reported nine new cases. Three new cases were reported in each Madison, Big Horn and Lewis and Clark counties.

Cascade County, Lake County and Rosebud County each reported two new cases, and one new case was reported in each Gallatin, Hill, and Garfield counties.

The total cumulative number of cases statewide now stands at 1,843, according to state health officials, and there have been 875 recoveries. There are now 936 active cases across the state.

There are currently 28 people hospitalized.

The total number of tests has reached 118,695, an increase of 4,034 over the previous 24-hour reporting period.
