Number of Montana schools with COVID cases rises to 131

The number of Montana schools with one active COVID-19 case or more rose over last week rose to 131, according to state figures released Wednesday.

The report by Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services counted all COVID cases associated with schools through Friday.

The state's previous report released a week ago showed 121 schools with active cases.

A total of 433 cases are associated with schools statewide, which includes 302 students, 131 staff members and another 124 cases categorized as under investigation.

The state also reported another 344 cases at 10 colleges and universities in Montana.

The University of Montana has the most cases with 126, followed by Montana State University Bozeman with 99, Montana Tech with 52, Montana State University Billings with 26 and the University of Montana Western with 19.
