Gyms in Billings were forced to close Friday due to the coronavirus by order of Yellowstone County Health Officer John Felton.

The closure of local fitness facilities means operators are finding new ways to connect with members and allow them to work out from home.

Steepworld climbing gym is taking the time to revamp the gym.

“We’re trying to take this time to work on things that we normally wouldn’t be able to do… Painting, setting new routes and bouldering problems, and we’re just trying to fill in the gaps and make the best of the situation,” said Steepworld co-owner Heath Lillie.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 case rose to 16 in Montana as of Friday. In Yellowstone County, five positive cases have been reported.

Black Orchid Yoga and Cycling studio has been working on implementing an online based program for yoga classes.

"We’ve definitely been talking about this for a long time, moving into a VIVO channel and YouTube where people can do this stuff while they are traveling," said Black Orchid owner Peter Vanderloos.

Fuel Fitness has collaborated with its trainer to incorporate home based workout programing.

“We are working together to provide programming you can do in your own home,” said Regional group fitness director Jamie Veeson.

Colton Gibson, Fuel Fitness general manager in Billings, said that they are taking this time to deep clean the facility, and they hope that they will be able to open back up as soon as possible.
