RED LODGE- The Carbon County man accused of ramming his truck into the Carbon County courthouse did so intentionally and has multiple pending felonies in the court, according to prosecutors.

The crash happened Tuesday at around noon. That’s when police say Tyge DeVries drove south on Broadway in Red Lodge and accelerated, ramming his pickup into the courthouse.

He is charged with two felonies, including criminal endangerment and criminal mischief.

DeVries was then seen exiting the truck with a cardboard beer container and yelling “Kill them all,” and “burn it down,” according to court documents.

Police said at the time of the accident, a main Red Lodge street, Broadway, the sidewalks and the courthouse were all occupied, and that DeVries created a serious public safety risk.

He was brought into custody by Red Lodge Police Chief Jason Wells, and Carbon County Deputy Evan Thompson.

DeVries has multiple pending felonies in Carbon County district court, according to the prosecutor’s office. During an interview with police, DeVries admitted to intentionally driving his vehicle into the courthouse.

A trooper with the Montana Highway Patrol also said he observed multiple firearms in the truck.

Carbon County Sheriff Josh McQuillan said DeVries was taking to the Yellowstone County Detention Center.
