BILLINGS- The Wheatland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a group of horses allegedly uncared for and starving.
A representative at the Wheatland County Attorney’s Office says this has been an ongoing issue for years.
Sheriff Everett Misner took to Facebook to explain the issue to residents.
The horses are a part of a group of roughly 19 that are grazing in the area of Yellowstone Basin acres near Shawmut on Canal road.
No one has been charged, but currently the sheriff’s office is tracking down the horses and trying to get them care.
Efforts to assess the horses started after the last snow storm.
A Wheatland County official said the horses were put there by various owners over the years and left to graze, but the winter and vegetation have left little for the horses to eat.
