Man facing homicide charge following shooting death in Sidney convenience store

SIDNEY- A 19-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in Sidney on suspicion of shooting and killing a 20-year-old man at a convenience store.

The Sidney Herald reported that Kyle Lee Severson was arrested and charged with one count of deliberate homicide after he walked into the Richland County Law & Justice Center and allegedly identified himself as the shooter.

Sidney police responded to the report of a shooting in a parking lot of the Loaf-N-Jug convenience store at 706 S. Central Ave. at 11:30 p.m., the paper reported.

Officers found an unresponsive man who appeared to have been shot, and emergency responders determined he was dead.

The victim was identified as Tyler Hayden,according to the Herald.

Severson’s bail has been set for $2 million. He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Wednesday afternoon.

If convicted, he faces a maximum of the death penalty, life in prison or 100 years incarceration, according to the Herald. The minimum sentence is 10 years.

Sidney police and the Richland County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
