A Utah man has been indicted on federal charges after he was found digging in the historic Fort Yellowstone Cemetery over the past year seeking the Forrest Fenn treasure.

Rodrick Dow Craythorn, 52 of Syracuse, Utah, pleaded not guilty Thursday to two counts of damaging the cemetery on federal property in Yellowstone National Park between Oct. 1, 2019 and May 24., U.S. Attorney Mark Klaasen announced Thursday.

Hunters have scoured the West for years seeking the Fenn treasure, spurred by series of clues left by the artist. A handful of other searchers have also faced federal charges in relation to the search, mostly for trespassing or disturbing federal land.

Fenn announced that the treasure was found in July in Wyoming, though he did not identify the finder. Fenn died Sept. 7 at the age of 90.

Craythorn's trial is set for Dec. 14 in U.S. District Court in Casper, Wyoming.
