An overnight shooting behind Bar IX in downtown Bozeman sent two people to the hospital early Thursday morning, according to Bozeman police.
Deputy Police Chief Jim Veltkamp said dispatch received a report of shots fired behind the bar around 2:15 a.m.
Officers arrived to find two people shot with non-life threatening injuries. They were transported to the hospital and are being treated.
"It sounds like this happened due to a prior contact with the victims inside a bar, so it's fair to say it was targeted at them specifically and it was not just a random event," Veltkamp said.
Veltkamp said there is no ongoing danger to the public. People are advised to avoid the Rouse/Mendenhall intersection and Mendenhall west of Rouse as officers investigate the scene.
