BILLINGS - Yellowstone County sheriff's deputies arrested a man Tuesday morning after reports of shots fired.

The call came in around 9:15 a.m. and deputies responded to the area off of South Frontage Road to the intersection of Commercial Avenue and Harnish Boulevard.

Undersheriff Sam Bofto said the man in custody told deputies he found the gun in a ditch and wanted to see if it would fire. He fired the gun into the air.

Employees at businesses said they saw the man with the gun and reported he was waving it around.

Bofto said the man fired one round. No injuries were reported.
