Q2 News will provide extensive coverage of the 2020 election Tuesday. Our coverage will include on-air broadcast, online, social media, and streaming content. We will bring you the latest results after 8 p.m. and provide live reports from campaign headquarters around the state.
We have MTN political veterans Mike Dennison and Jay Kohn providing insight to developments. We will also be joined by political commentators AshLee Strong and Eric Stern for political party analysis.
Our coverage will include local, state and national election results and commentary. We will check in at the county elections center where reporter Mitch Lagge will monitor the vote count story. David Jay will have reaction to local state legislative and Yellowstone County results.
CBS News will broadcast its Election Night coverage from the heart of Manhattan in Times Square at the ViacomCBS headquarters. The new state-of-the-art Election Night studio will use augmented reality and the latest technology, including dozens of visual displays showcasing the latest data and mapping to help tell the complex stories of this election.
Anchoring from the CBS News Election Headquarters will be Norah O’Donnell; CBS THIS MORNING co-host Gayle King; FACE THE NATION moderator and senior foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan; 60 MINUTES correspondent and CBS News senior political analyst John Dickerson; and CBS News political correspondent Ed O’Keefe.
CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett will provide live exit poll analysis, report on any voter integrity issues and dive into the issues voters cared about and how they made up their minds.
CBS News contributor Maria Elena Salinas will cover voting trends. CBS News chief congressional correspondent Nancy Cordes will deliver updates on Senate and House races. CBS News political analyst and President Trump’s former chief of staff Reince Priebus and former senior adviser to President Obama Valerie Jarrett will offer analysis and insight. CBS News election law expert David Becker will contribute his legal expertise to help viewers understand the implication of potential voting issues and challenges that could emerge throughout the night.
The CBS News Decision Desk will make projections and characterize races in real-time throughout the night. CBS News elections and surveys director Anthony Salvanto will lead the Decision Desk and be in-studio with the new Election Night Tracker.
Our coverage begins at 4 p.m. Election Day with a special statewide MTN election report anchored by Jay Kohn.
At 4:30 p.m. we will join the CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell and transition into our full election night coverage at 5 p.m. as the first poll close out east.
The 530 p.m. News on Q2 will have a full report on voter turnout and what is at stake in Montana.
Q2 and CBS will transition between national and local election coverage throughout the rest of the night. Our coverage will be sustained and updated at least until 1 a.m. Wednesday. We will provide a ticker with results at the bottom of the screen throughout the night.
