Fire managers report that the Bear Creek Fire burning southwest of Dillon saw little growth on Wednesday.

The lightning-sparked blaze has burned a little over 11,600 acres and remains 70% contained.

The fire has been burning in the Lemhi Pass Area about 30 miles east of Salmon, Idaho, since Aug. 11.

Resources assigned to the fire include five helicopters, two Type 2 IA crews, two Type 1 crews, and 262 total personnel.

Crews mopped-up and held the northwest area of the fire in check on Wednesday. On the northern, southern, and eastern flanks, crews worked to complete suppression repair and rehabilitation.

Some measurable precipitation also fell over the Bear Creek area on Wednesday night.

Area, road, and trail closures are in effect. Lemhi Pass Road is closed from its junction with Montana Highway 324 to Lemhi Pass.

The public is strongly encouraged to refrain from entering the area/nearby road system due to heavy fire traffic.

There are no official evacuation orders associated with the fire.
