A driver accidentally rammed into a house on Billings West End Monday afternoon, sending his passenger to the hospital.

Billings Police Sgt. Bret Becker said the driver of a red Chevy Cavalier, an 18-year-old man, was traveling east on St. Johns Avenue when he said he accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake upon approaching a stop sign at 12th Street West.

The vehicle drove over a fence hit the front of the house at 1133 St. Johns Ave. at 2:41 p.m. The two occupants inside the home were not injured, but items on shelves inside were knocked to the ground, Becker said.

The passenger, a female around the same age as the driver, was taken to the hospital as a precaution, Becker said.

Billings police suspect the incident might be a DUI. Officers found evidence of aerosol spray in the car, which could have been inhaled as an intoxicant, according to Becker.
