BILLINGS- Food, beer and music: All part of the festivities for Billings TrailNet’s biggest fundraiser, Ales For Trails at ZooMontana Friday night.

The band Down Time performed first at the 18th annual event, followed by Arterial Drive.

The goal is to raise $100,000 to help pay for the Skyline trail on the Rims between Swords Park and Zimmerman Park.

It’s estimated that about 2,000 attended Ales for Trails and the support for the event has been good since it started in 2000, organizers said.

“A lot of people do support the trail system, so it’s a really easy thing to just get behind because trails affect everybody,” said Kristi Drake, Billings Trailnet executive director. “You can walk, bike, run, ride, you know scoot, use your wheel chair. We’ve just got a lot of support out there. And then I think people love the beer.”

Ales for Trails moved from Dehler Park to ZooMontana and is held a few weeks earlier than in the past, for the better weather.
