LOCKWOOD- The Lockwood Fire District welcomed 11 new reserve firefighters recently with the hopes of adding two more permanent firefighter positions in the near future.

With the new Lockwood High School soon to be built and the remodel of the Johnson Lane interchange also in the works,  Lockwood fire officials are anticipating an increase in calls for service.

Lockwood Fire Chief John Staley said Monday his department is getting ready for additional growth and is looking to buy a new ambulance in the coming months.

As far as the tax burden, Staley said voters will not be asked to support a new bond or a levy any time soon.

However, if growth in Lockwood continues, a second fire station could be needed within ten years or so.
