RED LODGE- If you get stopped by a police car in Carbon County, authorities are asking you make sure it’s really the cops.

The Carbon County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page Tuesday night that a white SUV with “Police” markings and red and blue flashing lights has been stopping vehicles in the Fromberg/Rockvale area.

Similar incidents have been reported in Wyoming in the Frannie and Deaver areas.

Anyone who sees the vehicle should call 911 immediately, the sheriff’s office recommends. If the driver attempts a pull-over, drivers should dial 911 immediately, turn on four-way flashers and obey all speeding laws, according to the sheriff’s office.

Dispatchers can track all on-duty officers via GPS and verify whether the vehicle is an actual law-enforcement officer.

If you see this vehicle, call Detective Q. Thompson at 406-445-7288 or email at qthompson@co.carbon.mt.us.

**ALERT*** The Carbon County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help with locating a possible police impersonator….
