BILLINGS- The developer of the One Big Sky project told the Billings City Council Monday night that the downtown redevelopment project is taking shape.

Bob Dunn, president of Wisconsin-based Hammes Company, presented an analysis during a council work sessions and said Billings has proven itself as an established destination and profitable area.

“As we have advanced the master planning, we think there will be a series of nodes of development in the downtown that will activate different sectors of downtown Billings,” said Dunn. “As far as a convention center, it’s probably a little premature at this point to say there is a certain site that it will be located on. As we have done our analysis our take away that are about a dozen locations downtown that could support the program.”

In his presentation, Dunn showed three main points of the development moving forward: building a destination, diversifying operations and leveraging the “Montana experience.”
